On June 21st of this year, we will usher in the Summer Solstice! Officially the longest day of the year, Summer Solstice is seen by many as the one and only official kick-off to summer. Many people decide to celebrate the solstice in multiple ways, from spending time in nature to checking in with themselves and recalibrating for the rest of the year. So what can you do to mark this once-a-year moment? Check out some of our recommendations below!

Meditate on the Moment

The Summer Solstice is an excellent opportunity for you to reset and recharge. Help yourself out by releasing any old energy that you have been carrying throughout the first part of the year, and open yourself up to new experiences as you welcome the new season. This will help to create inner and outer abundance as you get ready for summer! This is also an excellent time to check in with yourself and the goals you had for this year. Where are you at with those goals? Do you wish you were farther along? What adjustments can you make? Treat the solstice as another Day One!

Have a Picnic

Though many people default to having a barbecue at their home, you may also want to pack a picnic and head somewhere new! You could spend the day at a local park, or take a hike and eat where the mood strikes. One of the opportunities that comes hand in hand with Summer Solstice is that this day is extra long! There’s no rushing around or racing against daylight, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy your day out.

Get in the Water

It’s the first day of summer, why not spend it in the water? Spending time at the beach or river, or even floating in your backyard pool, is a great opportunity for you to take a moment to appreciate the day and adjust your mindset for the coming season.

Look Up at the Stars

Summer Solstice correlates with stars and constellations that are only viewable in the sky around this time of year! Take advantage of the warm evening and see what you can see! This might also be a good opportunity to help educate the kiddos in your life about what Summer Solstice is, and how it relates to space!

Tackle Your To-Do List

Summer Solstice is about new beginnings – So knock out those home projects you’ve been putting off! Have you been dying to start a garden? Take advantage of the sure-to-be sunny weather and get out there and start planting! All the extra daylight will give you plenty of time to get ahead.

Plan Your Summer

As your family celebrates the solstice, take time to plan out your summer! Would you like to take a trip somewhere? What local destinations are must-sees for you and your family? Don’t procrastinate any longer! Take this day as your deadline to finalize your plans!

The Summer Solstice is not just the longest day of the year or the first day of the summer, it is a sign of new beginnings as we embark on the second half of the year. Spend time outside, enjoy the company of friends and family, and get yourself set on a path for success as you tackle the months ahead!
